About the Media Centre
The Media Centre of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal plays a unique role in the field of research into contemporary Québec and Canadian art. Efforts made since 1990 to computerize its collections and use new information technologies are designed to provide the cultural community with all documentary and research resources developed through the activities of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.
Since it was established in 1965, the Media Centre has received a significant amount of information from an international network of inter-museum exchanges. In addition, many artists and exhibition centres in Québec and the rest of Canada have actively contributed to building the collection by depositing documentary files related to the production of contemporary art (brochures, leaflets, invitations, press clippings, handwritten notes, correspondence, and exhibition catalogues under 30 pages long) and updating them regularly. The Media Centre intends to reinforce this cooperative endeavour which is essential in a field where staying in the forefront of current developments represents a daily challenge.

About the Media Centre web site
The web site of the Media Centre of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, created in 1996, is devoted exclusively to documentary research into contemporary art and is made up of two sections.
The first contains information on the Media Centre itself: information on its documentary resources, services offered and staff, as well as artists bibliographies, specialized thematic bibliographies, the findings of thematic scans and other products of research carried out by the Media Centre team.
The second section is a directory of sites related to contemporary art and culture. The directory contains over 2,000 links. Selected site links are organized thematically, making them easy to find.
These two sections are constantly evolving, and we invite you to consult them regularly.
If you have a web site dealing with any area of contemporary art and culture, please send us the address so that we can add it to our directory.
The Media Centre of the Musée dart contemporain de Montréal is also very interested in acquiring your publications in the field of contemporary art. If you publish exhibition catalogues, monographs or any other material that relates to our collection, please let us know.
